Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown reportedly interviewed for the Temple football head coaching vacancy, though it appears he may not have landed the job.

Per a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Brown was one of a handful of coaches to have interviewed for the spot that was vacated when head coach Geoff Collins left to take over at Georgia Tech earlier this month.

However, multiple reports say Temple will be going in a different direction. Yahoo! Sports and The Associated Press both reported Wednesday that Temple was in the process of finalizing a deal to make Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz its next head coach.

Temple had not announced any decision as of early Wednesday evening.

Brown, 63, is in his third season at Michigan after being hired by Jim Harbaugh to replace D.J. Durkin beforethe 2016 season.

Michigan's defenses have ranked No. 1, No. 3 and No. 1, respectively, nationally in fewest yards allowed in each of his three seasons with the Wolverines. (Brown's 2015 Boston College defense also ranked No. 1.)

After the 2016 season, Michigan made Brown one of the highest paid coordinators in the country. Brown agreed to a five-year deal that will pay him $1 million annually through the 2020 season. In 2021, he's scheduled to make $1.4 million.

Brown also has retention bonus money built into his deal. He received an additional $300,000 for staying at Michigan through 2018. If he's with the Wolverines through Jan. 10, 2019, he'll receive another $300,000. If Brown leaves prior to the end of the deal, he'll owe Michigan $250,000 back in buyout money.

Brown has been a head coach before, but not in a decade. Brown went 43-19 in charge of UMass' program from 2003-08, pushing the program to the Football Championship Subdivision title game in 2006. Brown also went 25-6 in three years at Division III Plymouth State (1993-95) and 27-20 during four years at Northeastern (2000-03).

Michigan (10-2) will play Florida (9-3) in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 29 in Atlanta.
