We're looking at a rainy Friday and Saturday in metro Detroit, according to the National Weather Service — but things are expected to clear up in time for Easter Sunday.

"Additional periods of rain are expected through the day," said a NWS Detroit radar update posted to Twitter just after 6 a.m. "Rain may briefly become heavy at times."

The post added that while light to moderate rain is expected to continue over most of the area Friday morning, persistent areas of rainfall will lead to significant ponding with minor flooding possible in areas with poor drainage.

An early morning hazardous weather outlook posted by the service also said multiple rounds of rainfall are expected through Saturday, with rainfall amounts ranging from 1-1.5 inches in some areas.

NWS White Lake office meteorologist said rainfall is likely going to be the heaviest from early Friday morning until lunchtime, with rain dropping off in the afternoon.

"Just a cold rain today, temps in the 40s," Richter said.

Richter said Saturday is also expected to be rainy, but the chance for rain winds down by the evening hours.

However, as the skies clear up, Richter said a "dry and warm" Easter Sunday is forecast.

Here's a look at the NWS detailed forecast for metro Detroit this weekend:

Friday: High around 46 degrees, but expected to fall to around 42 degrees by 11 a.m. Low around 39 degrees. There's a 100% chance of precipitation, with new precipitation amounts of 1/4 to 1/2 an inch possible during the day. Expected to be breezy. By night, the chance of precipitation is 80%, with new precipitation amounts of less than 1/4 inch possible.

Saturday: High near 48 degrees, low around 41 degrees. There's an 80% chance of precipitation during the day, with new precipitation amounts between 1/4 and 1/2 inch possible. A mostly cloudy night is expected.

Sunday: High near 63 degrees, low around 46 degrees. A partly sunny day is expected, followed by a mostly cloudy night.
