BHOPAL: State cyber police have arrested two members of interstate gang involved in hacking online bank accounts and transferring money.
SP Cyber Vikas Sahwal informed that Mukesh Kawre, a resident of Gulmohar colony, complained that Rs 16.50 lakh were withdrawn from his firm’s bank account.
The amount was transferred to various accounts. During investigation, police found that the hackers had first blocked the registered SIM and then obtained a new SIM.
The gang managed to get OTPs sent on mobile and thus transferred the amount in various accounts which are opened on fake IDs and address. The police also found that the hackers used Nigerian/Trozen software to hack the accounts.
The police laid a trap and arrested the accused Prakash Salwekar, a resident of East Mumbai. Confessing to the crime, he revealed the name of other partner Vinod Mishra, also a Mumbai resident.
The two accused told police that they were working on the instructions of Anil Tulsiram Joshi. Currently, Joshi is in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat. He was arrested by police for similar bank fraud. Bhopal police are obtaining the production warrant to bring Joshi in the state for interrogation.
