Buckinghamshire CEO leaves to join rival

The chief executive of the Buckinghamshire Building Society is departing the company to join another lender.

Andrew Craddock will leave his position of four years at Buckinghamshire to join the Darlington Building Society as CEO at the beginning of December.

He will be succeeded by Gerard O’Keeffe, a former head of Allied Irish Banks in the UK.

Prior to his time at Buckinghamshire, Mr Craddock held positions at Allied Irish Bank and Barclays Bank.

He said: "I am looking forward to joining a thriving regional building society that has strong ambitions for the future."

Robin Bailey, chairman of the Buckinghamshire Building Society, said he was grateful for Mr Craddock’s efforts on the company’s board.

He said: "Andrew has been a remarkable leader, developing the Bucks into a modern, successful and financially secure business and at the same time keeping our mutual ethos of putting our members at the forefront of what we do.

"We are delighted to have Gerard O’Keeffe joining us - he has over 30 years experience in financial services including 16 years at AIB in the UK in various positions, latterly as head of Allied Irish Banks (GB), which included the retail, commercial and corporate banks."

On Mr Craddock’s new appointment to Darlington Building Society, its chairman Jack Cullen said: "We are extremely pleased to have appointed someone with this level of experience and calibre who shares the values of the society - we firmly believe that in Andrew we have someone who can lead the society to the next stage of our clearly-defined strategy."
