Sardis City police officer arrested for domestic violence

A Sardis City police officer was arrested Tuesday for domestic violence, according to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Terry Lynn Gossett, 50, was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center at 12:28 p.m. and released a short time later on $1,000 bond for the misdemeanor charge.

Sardis City Police Chief James Harp said the sheriff’s office is investigating the incident, and Gossett has been placed on administrative leave with pay while that investigation continues. Until there is a disposition in the case, Harp said, Gossett will remain on leave.
