A Sardis man faces drug charges after agents searched a building based on alleged drug sales from the location, according to Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Commander Randall Johnson.

Donald Naylor, 66, is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, Deputy Commander Phil Sims said. He is being held on $60,000 bond.

Agents executed a search warrant Friday at the location in the 400 block of Sardis Cut-Off Road in Sardis. Naylor was inside the building at the time.

During the search, agents found about 56 grams of methamphetamine in the front part of the building used as a makeshift living area. Also, several items used for drug paraphernalia and a .22 caliber rifle were found with the drugs.

Naylor was transported to the Etowah County Detention Center without incident. The case will be referred to the U. S. Attorney’s Office for possible federal prosecution.

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Sardis Police Department, Alabama National Guard Counterdrug Program and FBI Safe Streets Task Force took part in the case.
