Driver crashes into home near Sardis City, charged with DUI

A car left the roadway at about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday and crashed into a home on Chumley Road near Sardis City. Alabama State Troopers, who responded to the scene, charged the driver with driving under the influence.

According to the Troopers’ office, Michael F. Goodwin, 54, of Boaz, was traveling southbound on Chumley Road before veering off the street and striking the front of a residence.

While a family was present at the home during the incident, no one was injured.

After being transported to a local hospital, Goodwin was charged and booked in the Etowah County Detention Center.
