Newcastle allowed Jacob Murphy to leave on loan on deadline day, and the winger headed to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

While the Magpies’ attack flounder, Murphy already looks at home at Hillsborough, impressing fans after his first few games in blue and white.

The Owls have started brilliantly, winning three of their opening four games. And that’s despite Newcastle poaching manager Steve Bruce just weeks before the Championship kicked off.

Murphy made his debut in Wednesday’s second game of the season, and it only took him two minutes to open his account. The winger’s goal set them on their way, beating Barnsley 2-0.

After a defeat to Millwall at the weekend, the Owls bounced back last night by beating Luton Town 1-0. And yet again, Murphy looked like a completely different player to the one who was at Newcastle.

During his time with the Magpies, the 24-year-old looked shy and timid, unable to impose himself on Premier League games. He managed just one league goal, and rarely provided the spark that Rafa Benitez needed from his £12 million man.

But in the Championship, Murphy looks much more comfortable. Maybe it’s just his level, but the Owls fans seem very happy with their new man.
