A man who took part in an attack on a pensioner, multiple drug dealers and a conman who tricked a woman in her 70s out of £10,000 were among those jailed in Surrey this February.

Despite being the shortest month, years of jail time has been handed out to a number of criminals this February.

Below are the names and faces of some of those to have been put behind bars in the month- along with the crimes they've committed.

Man jailed after 'vicious' gang attack in Guildford

Kieran McQuade, 20, was jailed for five years on February 7 for his part in a "vicious attack" on a Guildford pensioner and his son.

The 20-year-old, of Vernon Way, Guildford, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to then 71-year-old Charles Sewell and his son Duane Sewell, then 45, during a gang attack outside their home.

During the sentencing hearing at Guildford Crown Court, a statement from the pensioner's wife described how the victim required constant care since the attack on May 8 2017.

Mrs Sewell said: "Charlie is just a shell of himself. He is alive, breathing, but not living."

Investigating Officer Detective Simon Tigg called the incident a "horrific and unprovoked" attack.

Kieran McQuade was sentenced to five years in prison for his part in an attack on two men in New Cross Road, Stoughton in May 2017.

'Cowardly' conman jailed over £10k fraud that tricked pensioner

A conman who tricked a woman in her 70s out of £10,000 of savings was jailed for 20 months on February 7.

Darryl Poole, 24, of Eversholt Street in London, admitted being part of a group that swindled the woman into withdrawing the sum from her bank account.

He was arrested after CCTV showed him purchasing a top-up card for a phone that had been used to call the woman when the scam started in June 2015.

The woman was called be a man claiming to be a police officer - "Sergeant West" - who said he was leading an undercover investigation into fraud at a nearby bank and needed her help.

Following Poole's sentencing, Detective Inspector Pete Howgate of Surrey Police said the case proved that officers "will simply not tolerate these despicable and cowardly conmen".

Driver jailed for fleeing crash leaving passenger badly injured

A driver was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for causing "serious injury" to a passenger and fleeing the scene immediately after a crash in Horley.

Iqubal Khan, 35, of Lismore Crescent, Crawley, was driving on September 23, 2018 when his car, a Toyota Corolla, was involved in a head-on crash with a Range Rover Sport.

Surrey Police said he fled the scene "not even bothering to check whether his passengers were unharmed" - one had sustained serious leg injuries.

Khan's car had been "excessively overloaded" with passengers, including four adults squashed on the rear seat.

He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving to failing to stop and failing to report an injury colliision.

Mr Khan was arrested on November 29 2018 after officers tracked him down through DNA left in the vehicl

Man jailed after £5,000 worth of cocaine found in his sock

A drug dealer was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison after being found guilty of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Mohamad Mostame, 24, of Marlow Crescent in Twickenham, had £5,000 worth of cocaine stuffed in his sock when Surrey Police searched him.

He was then arrested in the early hours of November 21 2018 in Deepdene Avenue, Dorking.

Two 17-year-old girls were with him when he was arrested and they have been safeguarded with help from specially trained officers on the child sexual exploitation team.

There were concerns that they were being used to traffic the drugs.

Drug dealer jailed after cocaine found on front seat of car

A drug dealer was jailed for five years and three months for admitting charges relating to possession of class A drugs and for assaulting an emergency worker.

Christopher Panzo, 22, from Surbiton, was sentenced on four possession with intent to supply class A counts, including diamorphine and crack cocaine drugs.

Panzo was arrested after he was spotted driving at speed through Epsom in November 2018.

Officers tried to handcuff the 22-year-old after spotting what appeared to be drugs wrapped in cling film on the front seat - he struggled with police and escaped on foot.

He was arrested at his home address on January 7, at which further packages of class A drugs were found.

Man who gagged woman, 82, and ransacked house in burglary jailed

A Woking man was jailed for eight years after gagging an elderly woman in her own home during a burglary in Sunbury.

Adrian Kosmider, 25, of Dartmouth Avenue, then stole jewellery worth approximately £50,000.

The 82-year-old victim was asleep when Kosmider broke into the property in Fordbridge Road in December 2018.

She "sustained blisters" to the inside of her mouth and lips from the gag and was told not to move or make a sound otherwise she would be killed.

In a January statement, the victim said: "I feel that since the incident I have physically slowed down significantly. I feel cold at different times and don’t have the confidence I used to have.

"I feel I have lost some of my independence and that my life as I knew it has been taken away from me, particularly during the evenings and I am now on sleeping tablets which have helped me sleep."

Jail for drug dealer who concealed drugs internally

A drug dealer was jailed for more than three years after concealing class A drugs internally.

Ramone Williams, 31, of Friern Barnet Road in Barnet, was stopped by drug team and firearms officers on the Ewell Bypass.

He was arrested and strip searched, with officers becoming aware that he was concealing drugs internally.

Williams spent eight days in custody, with a drugs toilet deployed.

He was charged with being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and sentenced to three years and four months in prison and also received 12 weeks for breaching a suspended sentence.
