Following a 21-2 season, the Central High School softball team has earned more playing time close to home.

The Warriors are the  No. 3 overall seed in Class 5A and will host one of the state's eight regionals beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. The Warriors will open against No. 30 Ralston Valley. No. 14 Brighton and  No. 19 Windsor are also going to visit for the regional.

The regional will be played at Kronkright Complex.

Fruita Monument (13-10) also qualified for the postseason with the No. 24 seed. The Wildcats will head to Aurora and open play against No. 9 Fossil Ridge. No. 8 Smoky Hill and  No. 25 Fountain-Fort Carson are also in the regional.

In Class 4A, No. 11 Rifle (18-5) will travel to Longmont along with host No. 6 Silver Creek,  No. 27 Air Academy and Saturday's opponent, No. 22 Widefield.

Montrose (11-11) just snuck in the field with the No. 28 seed and will travel to Wheat Ridge to face host No. 5 Wheat Ridge on Saturday. No. 12 Erie and No. 21 Ponderosa are also in the regional.

Unlike 5A and 4A, which feature 32-team tournaments with four-team regionals, 3A features 24 teams in eight three-team regionals.

Cedaredge is the No. 13 seed and Delta is the No. 19 seed. The Panthers (8-14) will head to  No. 3 Brush and will face  No. 14 Fort Lupton on Saturday morning. The Bruins (14-8) will head to No. 4 Strasburg and face No. 20 Faith Christian on Saturday morning.

STATE TENNIS

CHSAA unveiled the draws for the 5A state tournament in Denver that will take place Thursday through Saturday. Fruita Monument will be well-represented.

Brandon Miller will represent the Wildcats in No. 2 singles against Rocky Mountain freshman Bridger Galyardt. Brothers KC and Ryan Davis will take on Fossil Ridge's Nathan Kerekes and Curtis Chun in No. 2 doubles. Micah Hanly and Colby O'Day will face Rock Canyon's Hunter Freeseman and Carson Rardin in No. 3 doubles. In No. 4 doubles, Liam Pomrenke and Coltan Gechter will take on Denver East duo Ryan Pool and Diego Garcia-Gallo.

The Montrose High School football team is the No. 1 team in Class 4A Ratings Percentage Index after starting the season 6-0. Fruita Monument (3-3) is  No. 14, Grand Junction (3-3) is No. 18 and Central (2-4) has risen to No. 27 with back-to-back wins.

In 3A, Palisade (3-3) is No. 14. In 2A, Rifle (6-0) rose to No. 4 after defeating Delta (5-1), which fell to No. 10.

In 1A, Meeker (5-1) is No. 4, Hotchkiss (5-1) is No. 10, Olathe (3-3) is No. 15, Paonia (2-4) is No. 17, Cedaredge (2-4) is No. 21 and Grand Valley (1-5) is No. 25.

In the boys' soccer RPI in 5A, Fruita (6-5) is No. 34, Grand Junction (5-7) is No. 43 and Central (3-9) is No. 58.

Montrose (7-5) is 18th in the 4A rankings. Rifle (6-4) is 26th and Palisade (3-7-1) is 56th.

Delta (9-3) is the highest-ranked local team, coming in at No. 5 in the 3A rankings. In 2A, Caprock Academy (0-2) is No. 19.

In the volleyball rankings in 5A, Fruita (8-5) is No. 26, Grand Junction (6-12) is No. 41 and Central (3-12) is No. 58.

Montrose (12-3) is No. 3 in 4A, followed by No. 17 Palisade  (10-5).

Cedaredge (14-0) is No. 3 in 3A. Delta (10-6) is 28th.
