It's not often that we think to compare Glasgow to Hollywood. After all, we don't exactly have the same weather or vibrant beach scene. But we do get our fair share of 'slebs.

That's right - our city doesn't fare badly when it comes to attracting the stars. Obviously it helps that we are a prime filming location for some of the world's biggest blockbusters and Brad Pitt, Scarlett Johansson and Steven Spielberg have all shot scenes here in the past.

It's not all work and no play when the A-list come to town, however. It seems they love to rub shoulders with the locals, dine out at our best eateries and share a dram in our finest pubs. And who can blame them? We certainly have a nightlife screne that would rival even the wildest Oscars afterparty.

Here are just eight examples of famous faces enjoying their downtime in Scotland's biggest (and best)  city.

Pink

The What About Us star sent fans wild when she played two sold-out dates in Hampden over the summer. But in between her incredible acrobatic performances and jaw-dropping marriage proposal, Pink took some time out to hang out with her kids a local Glasgow park.

The pop star enjoyed a well earned day of fun in the sun- much to the delight of Glaswegians.

The What About Us singer clearly wasn't worried about being harassed on her day off - and Glasgow was proud to leave the mum of two in peace.

Michelle Flynn wrote on Twitter: "Saw Pink playing with her kid in a busy Glasgow playpark this afternoon. Most of the folk there knew who she was. Everyone left them to it. Felt really proud to be a Glaswegian today. Also, hanging out in a Glasgow playpark in the sun. Pink, hen, you lucked out!"

Will Ferrell

This was just last week - and it is safe to say we are definitely not over it. The 52-year-old Anchorman megastar took time out from shooting scenes for his upcoming Netflix feature Eurovision to visit The Spanish Butcher for a scran with his brother... And they really went to town with their order.

Ordering from their award-winning Galician menu, Will and his table enjoyed a mammoth 35-day dry-aged 1.1kg porterhouse steak, alongside a 900g chateaubriand from Galician blond cattle in Northern Spain. Just don't forget to invite us next time, eh Will?

David Beckham

Goldenballs sent Glaswegians' hearts racing when he dined out at Crabshakk before moving on to The Gate in the city's east end.

The 44-year-old was in Scotland doing some brand partner work with the Haig Club whisky firm and he paid a wee visit to Glasgow while he was up here.

We are gutted we missed Posh's heartthrob hubby. Come back soon, pal, Say You'll Be here.

Jeffree Star

You might have to be a certain age to appreciate this fun. But if you're a Gen Z (or a patient parent to one) we're betting Jeffree Star's appearance in Glasgow was all over your social media.

The MUA extraordinaire popped into Taco Bell on Sauchiehall Street ahead of his makeup masterclass with beauty bff MMMMitchell.

Taking to Snapchat, Jeffee posted a picture of himself outside the Sauchiehall Street store front with the caption 'Glasgow Vibes'.

In response, one fan tweeted: "@JeffreeStar has discovered Taco Bell on Sauchiehall Street Glashow and I am LIVINGGGGG!!".

Backstreet Boys

It's not all fine dining and sumptuous cocktails for our celebrities  - for some it is all about squeezing in a bit of learning too.

Backstreet Boy's Howie D took a trip up the Glasgow Tower and enjoyed a showing of Wonders of the Night Sky in the planetarium earlier in the summer.

The megastar was in town with the legendary boyband (or vocal harmony group, as is their rightful title) to perform at the SSE Hydro.

But before the big gig, he decided to soak up some culture and go on an educational adventure.

Justin Bieber

It turns out even superstars like Justin Bieber end their Saturday night in Glasgow with a chippy from the Blue Lagoon.

After finishing up his sold out gig in 2016, the Baby singer made his way to the takeout for some fine-dining and absolutely demolished a deep fried haggis and Irn Bru.

A man after our own hearts. Justin, if things don't work out with Hailey just let us know and we'll treat you to a slap up meal - and a shoulder to cry on.  Never say never!

Nigella Lawson

Nigella Lawson

Another Blue Lagoon fan! TV cook Nigella Lawson dropped into the city centre favourite, following a wedding, and hailed their chips the "best" and the "perfect end" to her day.

The chef didn't just sample some of our fast food highlights, tweeting out a picture of a miniature bottle of Buckfast tonic wine, with the caption "wedding breakfast Glasgow".

Nigella said: "Perfect end to the perfect day: best chips, exquisitely vinegary, from the Blue Lagoon Glasgow."

If it's good enough for Nigella...

Dua Lipa

If we had to choose a lass to join us for a night on the tiles in Glasgow, Dua Lipa would be top of our list. The 24-year-old hitmaker always looks up for a laugh, as proved by her late night Snapchats from Nice 'n' Sleazy's.

After stepping off the stage at the O2 Academy, the One Kiss star enjoyed shots with her band at the iconic bar and partied with completely starstruck locals.

Now, Wednesdays are hardly jumping in Glasgow and people who were having a quiet night in were quick to recognise the poster-clad walls of Sleazy’s on social media and were raging that Dua Lipa was out and they weren’t.

Grant Neil tweeted saying “why is Dua Lipa at Sleazy’s and I’m naw”. We feel you, mate.
