One death of a person diagnosed with coronavirus has been registered in the last 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed at today's daily briefing, bringing the death toll in Scotland to 2,489.

An additional two positive cases were also confirmed, bringing the total to 18,302.

699 patients are currently in hospital - 17 more than yesterday, however there has been a reduction of eight in the number of confirmed cases. Meanwhile, seven people are currently in the ICU, which is a decrease of one.

Since March 5, 4,102 patients have been discharged from hospital after treatment for coronavirus.

Six reports of suspected 'non-compliance' with quarantine requirements

Nicola Sturgeon has said there have been six reports of suspected non-compliance with quarantine requirements for international arrivals in Scotland.

The First Minister warned of “increasing volatility internationally” in levels of coronavirus infection.

The Scottish Government is considering different ways of mitigating possible importation of new cases from abroad.

Scottish Government considering day of mourning for coronavirus victims

The Scottish Government is considering a national day of mourning to remember those who have died from coronavirus.

She adds: “We will consider a day of mourning at an appropriate point with engagement with relatives as those who have died. We will want to remember the loss of life. I’ve heard different suggestions on how that would best be done.

“It’s a question of ‘how’ not ‘if’. “

Quarantine checks on people arriving in Scotland to begin today

Quarantine checks on people coming to Scotland will begin from today as those entering will be told to isolate for two weeks.

It comes after it emerged no checks had taken place north of the border on travellers arriving in the country.

No plans for air bridges for Scotland yet

Nicola Sturgeon has yet to make plans on air bridges and quarantine exemptions for Scotland.

She explains: “That assessment is continuing. I have heard very loudly the representations made by airports, for example, but I also have to balance that with serious public health considerations. We have to do it safely.”

She has urged Scots to consider a “staycation”.

Adding: ”These are really difficult judgements - all countries are having to grapple with this right now - and it’s important that we apply as much reason and objective evidence as possible.

“I’m not prepared to simply rubber-stamp decisions taken by another government.”

FM 'hopes' to announce Phase 3 on Thursday

Nicola Sturgeon says she hopes to be able to confirm on Thursday that Scotland can move into Phase 3 of the route map out of lockdown.

Nicola Sturgeon writes to UK Government over stimulus package

Nicola Sturgeon has written to the UK Government calling for a £80 billion stimulus packable for the country. It would be comparable to the measures in place in Germany.

The Scottish Government has recommended an employment guarantee for young people and asked that Scotland have greater financial powers, including over-borrowing.

She adds: “We believe the UK’s programme should tackle inequalities, support jobs, and have a strong focus on investment in low carbon and digital infrastructure.

“We’ve also recommended an employment guarantee for young people, a policy the Scottish Government is looking at ourselves, and we’ve called for a temporary cut in VAT to boost consumption, with especially low rates for our hospitality and tourism sectors.”

Travel restrictions lifted in Dumfries and Galloway

The travel restrictions have been lifted around the Dumfries and Galloway area.

Residents can now travel further than 5 miles and can visit people in carehomes.

Nicola Sturgeon said: “As we continue to lift restrictions, there will continue to be clusters like this. This one appears to have been controlled rapidly and effectively.”

The latest coronavirus figures are as follows -

2 people have tested positive for coronavirus - 18,302

1 death has been registered of patients who tested positive for coronavirus. Bringing the total to 2,489.

Since March 5, 4,102 patients who had tested positive have been able to leave the hospital having recovered.
