A Scot has taken to Twitter to help with a family search for long lost kin, with his appeal shared more than 1,500 times.

Dean McCammon posted on the social media platform on June 11 to ask for help tracing people his grandmother had fostered during the 1970s and 1980s.

Tweeting to the good people of Glasgow, Dean asked the hive mind for help with some of the limited information provided by his grandmother - who suffers from alzheimers disease.

Dean and his mother are now hoping to trace foster relatives, but have nothing more than some names to go on. With the help of the internet and social media, though, Dean and his family hope that they can fill the gaps in their family story.

Dean tweeted to say: “Hoping the powers of twitter can help… ma gran’s got alzheimers and ma mum’s trying to find 3 kids my gran used to foster in the 1970s/80s. All I have is the names Paul, Anita, Sheila Middah from the Glasgow area … can I get a few wee shares please.”

Although it’s not a lot of information to go with, the internet can be a wonderful place for making positive change. It would be a beautiful thing to see Dean’s family reunited with the people they fostered nearly 50 years ago.

Go on Glasgow, do you thing!
