A man found dying in a flat close in Paisley has been named.

The 48-year-old has been named locally as George Calvert – and was found seriously injured in a close in Glen Street on Tuesday afternoon.

He was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he later died, reports the Paisley Daily Express .

Police cordoned off the area around the flat as they probed what had happened to him.

Officers in white overalls and blue gloves were also gathering evidence at the scene.

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, told how the man was rushed out by paramedics.

He explained: “I saw them bringing him out on a stretcher. He didn't look in a good way.

“Police swarmed the street and started closing it down."

Two men are set to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court later today.
