A police officer was hospitalised alongside two men after being the victim of an assault during a disturbance in Paisley.

The incident occurred on Seedhill Road around 9:20pm on Friday evening.

Two men, aged 21 and 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with the disturbance, while a further two men, aged 33 and 36, were taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital and discharged after treatment.

The officer also required hospital treatment and was released some time later.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the two men are expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court tomorrow in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Two men, aged 21 and 20, have been arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance on Seedhill Road in Paisley, which took place around 9.20pm on Friday, 3 July, 2020.

"Two men, aged 33 and 36, were taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital and discharged after treatment.

"An officer was assaulted during the incident and was taken to hospital and released after treatment.

"A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and the two men are expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, 6 July, 2020."
