A concerned mother helped snare a 35-year-old pervert who was grooming her teenage son online.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Colin Farrell engaged in several sexualised conversations on social media platform Kik.

One boy who would call him ‘Master' and Farrell, of Albion Street in Glasgow's Merchant City , would call him 'Slave'.

Operating under the username MasterD, Farrell exchanged pictures of genitals with the 15-year-old after first communicating with him in January 2017.

The boy’s mother discovered his iPad was filled with explicit images of both her son and Farrell and immediately contacted police in Wales.

On July 26, 2017 the Cyber Crime Unit tracked down Farrell with the email that was linked to his account on Kik.

The unit confiscated Farrell’s computer hard drive, iPad and LG Nexus mobile phone.

Farrell was then arrested and it was discovered he also took part in other sexualised conversations with two other boys aged 14 and 15 on Kik between  March 8 and  June 4, 2017.

However, these two boys have not yet been located by the authorities.

Investigators found 707 images and videos at Farrell’s home, which included child pornography.

Prosecutor Kathleen O’Donnell said: “The children shown on these platforms are boys between the ages of 12 and 15 and there are over 600 unique images.”

Sheriff Norman Ritchie put Farrell on the sex offenders register before he was granted bail.

He will be sentenced for his crimes next month.
