We all know that when it comes to performing, we're a talented bunch in Glasgow and the west.

But it's no harm having a wee reminder every now and again.

This time the young blood are doing us proud as Scottish Youth Theatre unveiled their 2017 ensemble members.

The prestigious new company consists of just 24 young people from all over Scotland.

Residents of Glasgow and the surrounding areas make up 8 of the group - making the area the most highly represented of anywhere in Scotland.

Considering over 100 hopefuls applied for a coveted place and the intense audition process lasted a few months - this is no mean feat.

Michael Dallas (24) from Wishaw is one of the chosen few and sees the ensemble as a valuable experience.

“I'm most looking forward to travelling to various locations in Scotland, visiting new theatres and taking part in workshops led by industry professionals," he said.

It is a great addition to any actor’s CV.

I can not wait to get started!”

The young people have a busy year ahead, with eight development weekends throughout the year and five weeks in the summer which will culminate in a performance in August.

They will also get the chance to take part in workshops, Q and A’s and training from some of the most admired Directors, Actors, Designers, Choreographers and Writers working in theatre today.

Scottish BAFTA-winning actress and star of game of Thrones, Kate Dickie, is heavily involved with SYT having attended summer schools in Glasgow herself.

Artistic Director, Mary McCluskey stated

“We auditioned in Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dumfries and were so inspired by the talent we saw - it was a very hard job whittling the numbers down to just 25 but some of the
