Don't you just love the Scottish summer?

After experiencing a wee bit of hazy warm weather not too long ago, our hopes for a scorcher were slightly dashed when a period of drizzle swept in over the past couple of weeks.

The bad news is it's not going anywhere fast.

After a showery day today, we're told to expect a dry Sunday morning, but don't let that lure you into a fall sense of security, as things will soon turn wet and miserable, with a high chance of thunder to boot.

A Met Office forecast for Sunday reads: "A dry start with some sunshine. Then cloud bubbling up to bring a scattering of showers these turning heavy with the chance of hail and thunder."

And as we get into the new working week, things aren't looking any brighter.

The Met Office prediction for Monday - Wednesday states: "Sunshine and heavy showers on Monday with the chance of thunder. Then mainly dry and bright on Tuesday and Wednesday though a chance of rain on Wednesday."

Conditions will get better by next weekend, with less rain predicted and dry spells, but it will be a bit colder, with average temperatures of 15C, compared to around 17C of earlier in the week.

And the good news is there is hope for the rest of June, as a long-range forecast for the country as a whole suggests we could be in for some brighter conditions, with the  Met Office saying: "As we head into the final week of June, there are signs that high pressure may dominate, bringing a greater chance of more settled and warm weather."

So we will be keeping our fingers cross ed for that!
