Annmarie Baran knew the time had come to transform her life when she started to find it tough to keep up with her wee grandson.

Binging on huge platefuls of the wrong foods had finally taken its toll, and she vowed to make a change when her weight tipped the scales at 14 st 9lbs.

Annmarie, from Cambuslang, was determined to ditch the excess fat and drop down a few dress sizes from her usual 18/20 so she signed up with her local WW class (the new Weight Watchers).

She said: "I wanted to be able to enjoy my time with my grandson, and not worry about my unfit state of health.

"I look after him a few days a week and needed to be healthy and fit as running around after a child is really hard work and being overweight doesn’t make it any easier.

"I used to eat all the wrong things, like pizza, high fat foods, fish and chips, and takeaways. I also had a very very sweet tooth and could never say no to anything with lots in it, and my portion sizes were always too big."

She added: "I decided to join my local Weight Watchers as I had been a member previously, so it was an easy decision for me to make.

"I always found great support and a great plan, and I knew it was the right choice."

Soon, Annmarie's efforts started to come to fruition and as she ditched the pounds, she gained a new enthusiasm for things she'd have previously shied away from.

And after changing up her eating habits and attitude to food, she was delighted to drop to just over 11 st 4 lbs, and fit into a size 14 clothes to boot!

Annmarie said: "I eat very healthy now and exercise regularly, my general health has improved tremendously and I can enjoy cycling and walking.

"I can also swim three or four times a week, whereas before this just would not have been possible to do, as the extra weight I was carrying just made it too difficult and uncomfortable.

"My portions have now reduced to a normal size and the change in my overall health has greatly improved.

"And I enjoy clothes shopping - and no wonder as I can now buy a size 14, and no longer need a size 18/20!"

She added: "I am happy in my life now and have my family and friend Trina (who joined WW with me) to thank for that, and of course my coach Lynda for all her encouragement.

"I feel I have my life back on track, and I'm more confident in myself.

"It has been a long journey but I feel, at last, I am getting the results I want, and it is so rewarding to feel so much healthier generally and I have great energy too!"

Well done, Annmarie, you look amazing!
