A Glasgow eatery has landed the top spot at the National Burger Awards this week.

El Perro Negro, based in Finnieston, scooped the best burger gong for their popular dish, Top Dog, at the awards event in London.

The delicious Top Dog burger is a beef patty served in two buns, with bone marrow and roquefort butter, double bacon, caramelised onions and black truffle mayo.

The dish won the hearts of judges as El Perro Negro beat off stiff competition from chefs, restaurants and street food operators from across the UK.

Modest staff at the burger joint in Argyle Street claim the concept for the award-winning burger was 'flung together' in a flat in Dennistoun.

They took to social media to announce the good news and thanked judges for the gong.

A post on the El Perro Negro Facebook said: "We came, we cooked, we won.

"The top dog has scooped best burger at the national burger awards 2019.

"Many thanks to @casualdiningmag, @djbbq for hosting, all the sponsors and the other outfits competing. Great laugh.

"Not bad for a daft concept flung together in a flat in Dennistoun."

A big well done to a Glasgow favourite!
