Last night in London, Jack Whitehall hosted a glitzy awards ceremony attended by the complete who's who of music at the O2 Arena.

From Scotland’s own Calvin Harris to Little Mix and Ariana Grande, the ceremony was crammed with glamorous and famous singers.

The 1975, who headlined the first ever TRNSMT, came away with the biggest prize of the night in the form of British album of the year and British group, while George Ezra, who will play the festival this year, came away with British male solo artist.

However, it was the Glasgow attendees who really stole the show - bringing banter, unexpected moments and a wholesome appreciation of your gran.

Tom Walker, who is best known for Leave A Light On, came away with British breakthrough act, while Lewis Capaldi was nominated for Critics’ choice.

In his acceptance speech, Tom Walker credited his grandmother who has been a bit of a feature of his Brit campaign and was recently interviewed by Glasgow Live.

The Glasgow born and Manchester-raised vocalist said: “"Thank you so much. To my management team, absolute legends.

"To everybody up in Scotland, to my gran who is watching somewhere on telly: yes, gran, here we are.

"This is an absolute honour and a privilege."

Earlier, Walker was asked on the red carpet how he would celebrate if he won.

He replied: "By getting bang on it, mate. We are going to have a couple of beers afterwards.

"It's the first day in ages where I've been drinking and had the next day off."

Lewis Capaldi was also at the awards, although he didn’t walk away with a prize. The Glasgow singer added and sold out a second date in Glasgow for his world tour this morning.

Bouncing onto the red carpet yesterday in signature style, Capaldi has already spawned a classic gif with a wonderful photobomb.

During his live interview before the event, he also caused a stir for presenters Yasmin Evans and Jamie Laing by swearing into his mic.

Chatting to the red carpet team, he said: "Your stock is f****** through the roof.”

Before going even further when asked if he’d been drinking, saying he was sober and joking:  "but if you're talking about narcotics, I've had loads.”

Capaldi was clearly in good spirits before the awards, joking on his Instagram story that he was about to walk unnoticed down the red carpet.

He said:“About to go on this f***ing red carpet thing here and absolutely no c*** is going to have a clue who I am.”

Last night was clearly good for Glasgow music and a night to remember for Tom Walker’s gran, while the TRNSMT line-up gained an award for George Ezra. However, it also proved once again that London might be able to provide the ballroom glamour, but Glasgow will always bring the banter.
