An activist group has staged a protest outside Prince Charles' Highgrove home in Gloucestershire.
Extinction Rebellion, a group advocating environmental action, staged a "chain" protest outside the Tetbury estate this afternoon.
The group staged the protest to raise awareness about climate change and try to incite environmental action.
Extinction Rebellion were protesting outside Highgrove to motivate action from Prince Charles to "declare a climate emergency".
Today was one of the few times that Highgrove was open for members of the public for a Sensational Spring Walk to enjoy the landscape of Prince Charles' Gloucestershire home.
Four members of the group lay on the ground outside the entrance for several hours, blocking some visitors from entering.
In a statement, they said: "Extinction Rebellion apologise for disrupting visitors’ plans for a day out at Highgrove, but are sure that as supporters of Prince Charles, they would understand and share his concerns about the climate catastrophe and mass extinction which is enveloping us all."
The prince has made remarks in the past about advocating for environmental action to tackle climate change.
Now Extinction Rebellion are asking him to "stand by his words."
David Lambert, a spokesperson for the group, said: "The Prince has been warning us of this nightmare for over forty years: he was right but he was ignored.
"We are asking him to rebel against the conventions of royal protocol and speak out with the urgency he knows is needed.
"As he said, the time for business as usual is over.
"This is a national emergency and we need his leadership now."
Another member of the group, Sarah Lunnon, told Gloucestershire Live: "We want to show that climate change is no walk in the park.
"If we want to continue to have beautiful places like Highgrove, we need to incite action now."
