A householder in Kingsway was told by officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary that their plans for a bouncy castle and loud music were “not ok”.

The officers were visiting the Gloucester suburb and making sure people were adhering to the latest government guidance regarding lockdown.

On their visit PCSOs Rollins and Lee met the person who was planning the event.

The officers said the person’s intention were “blatant disregard” to the guidance and that “no common sense” was applied.

On Twitter they said: “have just been to advise families in Kingsway that it’s not ok to hold a large party ignoring government guidance. Complete with a rather large bouncy castle and loud music.

“It’s 1 member of another household only not a street party.”

The officer went on to say: “Social distance is difficult to advise on however this was blatant disregard and no common sense applied.

“However music stopped and castle deflated. Police body cameras not very well received. Educated on this occasion but a fine on the next occasion.”

This weekend has seen police in the Cotswolds break up large gatherings while a couple who spent six hours travelling to a holiday cottage in Gloucestershire were told to go back home.

A number of places and organisations have issued further guidance about visiting during the lockdown.
