Roadworks will be taking place on a busy commuter route heading into the city.

Crews will be working to replace the deck joints along Greenhill Drive Bridge to stop water damage corroding the structure.

While the road will be closed for three days it will mean the bridge “remains fit for use for road users for many years to come”.

To repair the bridge as quickly as possible, there will be a 24/7 road closure in place from 7pm on Monday February 25 until 6pm on Thursday February 28.

Gloucestershire County Councillor Vernon Smith (C, Tewkesbury East) cabinet member for highways, said: “Making sure our road network is as efficient and safe for all road users is a top priority for the county council.

“It’s important that we ensure drivers remain safe when travelling along Greenhill Drive Bridge. I would like to thank motorists for their patience while this essential safety work is carried out.”
