There have been no further coronavirus deaths recorded in Gloucestershire in the past 24 hours, according to figures released by the NHS today (May 22).

Across the UK, 254,195 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 and 36,393 have passed away.

This represents a rise of 3,287 and 351 respectively over a 24 hour period.

In Gloucestershire, there have also been four new cases of coronavirus recorded over the same time period.

The total now stands at 1,358, with an additional four cases reported.

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust has now reported 34 deaths and   Gloucestershire   NHS Foundation Trust has 186 deaths recorded.

A full breakdown of cases according to Public Health England data is as follows:

  • Gloucester - 398
  • Cheltenham - 318
  • Stroud - 196
  • Tewkesbury - 180
  • Cotswolds - 154
  • Forest of Dean - 112

Across the border in Worcestershire there have been 1,356 cases, in Wiltshire 521, Warwickshire 1,417 and Herefordshire 435 cases.

There have been 399 cases recorded in South Gloucestershire.

It has been announced today that two-week quarantines will be imposed on new arrivals to the UK from June 8, with fines for anyone who breaches the measure to prevent new waves of coronavirus from overseas.

Home Secretary Priti Patel announced that mandatory self-isolation would not apply to people coming from Ireland, medics tackling Covid-19 and seasonal agricultural workers.

Passengers will have to fill in a form providing their contact and travel information so they can be traced if infections arise, and they could be contacted regularly during the 14 days and face random checks from public health authorities to ensure their compliance.
