Police have offered reassurance to residents as they hunt the suspect for a wounding incident in Gloucester.

Armed police were called to India Road, Tredworth, on Sunday afternoon where they found a man in his 30s had been injured.

Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed the offender had left the scene of the incident, which happened just after 4pm.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate them.

Armed police were spotted a short time later at an address in Tuffley in connection with the crime.

"At 4.15pm today, Sunday 9 June, we received a report of an incident in India Road, Tredworth where a man had suffered a wound," said a spokeswoman for the force.

"Emergency services attended and the man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries. 

"A police search is underway to locate the offender who left the scene. Enquiries are ongoing and there is not believed to be a wider threat to the public.

"Any witnesses, or anyone with information about the incident, is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident 293 of 9 June."

India Road was closed to all traffic while police carried out an investigation.

A member of the public saw scenes of crime officers working at the location.
