A woman was attacked by a 'husky-type' dog as she went to a supermarket in Gloucester.

The attack happened on Friday evening outside Tesco on Mead Road, Abbeymead.

Collette, 25, from Southampton, who did not want to give her full name, was in Gloucester with her boyfriend to visit his family nearby.

She had gone to the Tesco to get a drink and noticed a woman and her dog by the entrance.

As Collette approached the doors, she says that the dog, which was on a loose lead, leapt out and bit her in the leg as she passed.

According to Collette, the owner was unfazed even as Collette alerted her to the attack.

"I said 'What the hell? Your dog's just bit me' but she didn't react at all," she said.

Collette says she only realised how bad the bite was when she was in the shop.

She spotted a woman and a child about to exit the shop and warned them about the dog outside being dangerous.

"I thought if he bit me in the leg he could really hurt that child at the height that they were at."

However, at this point the dog and its owner had gone and Collette was left in a state of shock.

After telling staff what had happened, Collette rang 101 and her boyfriend Elliott took her to hospital, where the couple spent over four hours in Accident and Emergency.

The nurse said that she had suffered "two deep puncture wounds", despite the fact that Collette had been wearing thick denim jeans at the time.

Collette says that the wound is still causing her pain.

She says: "I just want people to know about the dog and be aware that its dangerous, especially to children."
