Police have issued a warning over a recent spate of car thefts in Gloucester.

Gloucestershire Constabulary released a statement urging residents to keep vigilant about locking their car and keeping their valuable safe.

The statement reads: "We are aware of thefts from motor vehicles happening in your area.

"While we work hard to deal with the incidents, here is some crime prevention advice to keep your vehicle/property safe.

"Ensure your vehicle is left secure, including winding the windows up.

"Ensure you remove all valuables from the vehicle when securing it, such as SatNavs, MP3/MP4 Players, mobile phones.

"Don't leave anything on display."

The caution comes after raised concerns about areas of Gloucester being targeted by thieves .

Areas such as Tuffley and Quedgley have been hit by car theft in the past few weeks.

A woman's motor scooter was stolen this week while in a charity shop in Tredworth.
