She is known at the Lonely Litter Picker but now she’s beginning to not be so lonely.

Wearing a hi-vis jacket, carrying a bin liner and a litter picker and accompanied by her faithful dog Ikey, Tanya Laird is doing her bit to keep Gloucestershire clean.

Now she’s backing our campaign to Keep Gloucestershire Glorious.

Whenever she has a spare moment, the grandmother from Longford does what she can to keep Westgate Park clean and tidy.

“I wish it could all be cleaned up,” she said. “I don’t see why there are so many people who haven’t got the same attitude to be as proud of where they live as I do.

“If you had people coming to visit your home you’d want it to be clean and tidy for when they arrive. It’s the same with Gloucester.

“We should all be proud of where we live.”

Gloucestershire is littered with beauty spots, but that doesn’t mean those beauty spots should be littered with rubbish.

On Saturdays in August, we want to clean up Gloucestershire’s neglected and ignored public open spaces.

We will be armed with rubbish bags (and refreshments for volunteers), all we need to know is WHERE do you want us to clean?

The beauty therapist wants to see Gloucester, but Westgate Park in particular clean.

“It’s nice to walk along and see a place that is clean. You don’t have to pick anything up. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it,” she said.

She said that since she started to get out and get things tidy, she has noticed others doing the same thing.

"I go back to these places and I see that other people have cleaned up too. It means I'm not so lonely," she said.

Now we want to hear what YOU think

What we want from you is this: is there a spot in your area that needs cleaning up?

We're looking for the places that need a team like us to clear it up - the spots that for one reason or another, aren't receiving the love and attention they deserve.
