Vandals smashed a window at a milkshake shop in Gloucester – forcing it to close.

The incident happened on Wednesday at Shakes 2Go in Westgate Street.

It meant the shop had to shut yesterday.

There had been hopes it would be able to open on Thursday morning, but it is now aiming to open either later today or on Friday morning.

Shakes 2Go sells milkshakes, smoothies and frozen yoghurt and told its twitter followers what had happened.

It said: “So sad someone has done this to our lovely Gloucester shop.

“Things like this really hurt small businesses.”

The only slight saving grace, it said, was that Wednesday was a rainy day.

This morning, its twitter followers were told:  “The Gloucester store is closed today due to yesterday’s incident & we now hope to be up and running by later today or [Friday] morning.

“We will keep you updated.

"Cheltenham is open as normal!”

Gloucestershire police said: "This was reported to us at about 2.15pm yesterday after a woman was seen putting a sign through the window.

"A 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and is currently in custody."
