A 45-year-old Tewkesbury man who admits possessing hard drugs with intent to supply has been warned by a Gloucester judge that he faces a jail term.

David Joyce, of York Road, Tewkesbury, pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court to possession of cocaine, a class A drug on August 14 last year, with intent to supply.

Defence lawyer, Joe Maloney, said: “Mr Joyce is 45, and has not been in trouble since October 94 - the best part of 24 years.

“I would be grateful if the court would adjourn for a pre-sentence report.

“He is aware of the sentencing guidelines, but a report would assist.”

Judge Michael Harington agreed, saying: “Very well. A prison sentence is the likely outcome, but a report will assist.”

Joyce will be sentenced on March 7 and was granted bail until that date.
