Gloucester City return to National League South action on Saturday when they travel to Clarence Park to face St Albans.

Having lost only two games since Mike Cook’s arrival the head coach was in a positive mood as his side look to climb away from the relegation zone.

Looking ahead to St Albans, Cook stressed the importance of their remaining seven fixtures.

"They’re all important once you get down to single figure games," said Cook.

"If we can get a few wins it’ll go a long way to staying up, but I don’t want to prioritise any particular game. If we take a point from it then it’s a point extra.’

"I don’t have a particular points tally as we work it out by months, so blocks of four games. We want six points from the first month (March) and then six points from the final set of games.

"I’ve been here for 10 games and we’ve only lost two. Two refereeing decisions away to Dartford cost us the win and there’s not much I can do about that.

"I can’t go in and shout at my players if there’s nothing we can do about it. There were two linesman decisions at the weekend against Hemel [Hempstead] that cost us two goals.’’

Cook admits that a lack of goals has been frustrating.

He said: "It’s been an issue for us all season. We haven’t managed to bring in who we wanted to but saying that Dejon played very well [against Bristol].’’

City fans will be buoyed by their last outing to Clarence Park having taken all three points in a five-goal thriller.
