Gloucester City have signed goalkeeper Alhaji 'AJ' Sesay on an initial month loan from Bristol City to provide competition for Adam Przybek for the number one jersey.

The 20-year-old was recently called up to the Sierra Leone national team and whilst he has yet to make his debut for the Bristol City first team he has featured heavily for the Under-23s side.

This will be where Tigers fans will know him as it was his heroics in the opposition goal that denied City victory in the GFA Senior Challenge Cup back in August, saving the final penalty kick of the shootout to give City the 7-6 victory.

Sesay gained Twitter notoriety after scoring a sensational stoppage time headed equaliser during his recent loan spell at Poulton Rovers.

He will go straight into Gloucester’s squad to face Woking at Evesham tonight with Przybek currently away with Wales Under-19s.

Gloucester vice-chairman Chris Gage said: “We’ve been working hard in the background to support Chris in bringing in the personnel he wants and AJ is once again a prime example of the talent Chris can attract.

“It’s great that we’ve currently got two goalkeepers with us who have experience at international level and a mark of our growing strength in depth.

“Whilst the results haven’t quite gone our way in recent weeks, we’ve been playing against some of the top teams and have looked competitive.

“The points will come and it’s great to see that our supporters understand this, and are giving Chris and the team the support and time to change things up”.
