Danny Cipriani has sparked fears among Gloucester fans that he could leave.

The 31-year-old has admitted in an interview with BT Sport that he would be tempted to play in France.

Cipriani is currently under contract at Kingsholm until the end of the 2019/20 season but has already held talks with the club about extending his stay.

However, he has reportedly attracted interest from France with big-spending giants Clermont and Toulon monitoring his situation after his most recent England omission.

"The opportunity to play in France and ply your trade in another part of the world is an unbelievable opportunity and I’m fully aware how fortunate I am to have that opportunity as a rugby player,” said Cipriani.

"There’s plenty to weigh up, in terms of family, financial motivation and the desire of the team.

"What are the group trying to achieve? That’s huge for me. If their aspirations are big and I can help match them then you will have symmetry in what you’re trying to do, which is important."

Cipriani has previously played abroad, spending two years at Melbourne Rebels before returning to England when he joined Sale in 2012.

The fly-half turned down lucrative offers from overseas when he joined Gloucester from Wasps last summer after earning a recall to England’s squad to tour South Africa.

Cipriani has been one of the standout performers in the Premiership this season but has been left out of Eddie Jones’ recent squads.
