Ollie Thorley topped the player ratings, as judged by Gloucester fans after the thrilling Premiership win over Exeter at Kingsholm.

The winger, who has been named in England’s 33-man squad to prepare to face Wales at the Principality Stadium in the Six Nations on Saturday, just edged out match-winner Ben Morgan by those who used our ratings widget as the Cherry and Whites gained their first win of 2019.

Set up the first try for Jason Woodward with a wonderful catch and offload, played a key role in Morgan’s winning try, ran 136 metres, beat seven defenders and made six clean breaks. A fantastic night’s work.

The number eight was prominent from the start, making a total of 77 metres with some strong carries, linking up well with scrum-half Willi Heinz and having the composure and power to finish off the winning try with four minutes left.

Franco Mostert 8.1

South Africa lock Mostert also made some big carries to get Gloucester over the gain line time and again and showed great work-rate, also making 10 tackles.

Danny Cipriani 7.8

The fly-half got the back line ticking, made some fine breaks and did the ugly work with a fine clear-out at the ruck in the build-up to the winning try.

Fraser Balmain 7.6

An unsung hero who put in another big shift as Gloucester performed well in the scrum.

A strong showing on his return from injury that saw him beat five defenders.

Similar to Balmain, did a lot of good unseen work and helped give Gloucester front foot ball.

The captain had a big influence on his return, taking his try well in the second half.

Freddie Clarke 7.3

Continued his fine form, making more tackles (11) than any other  Gloucester player.

Tom Marshall 7.3

Impressed on his first Premiership appearance of the season, making 69 metres, beating four defenders and providing the final pass for Morgan’s try.

Franco Marais 7.2

The hooker showed why he was picked with his physicality but fluffed a good chance to score when he spilt the ball close to the line

Gerbrandt Grobler 7.2

Good impact from the bench, playing a part in the winning try.

Tom Savage 7.2

Usual hard-working performance with strong carries, big tackles and lineout efficiency.

Billy Twelvetrees 7.2

Kicked three good conversions but nerves seemed to get the better of him in two late penalty misses.

Jason Woodward 6.9

Livewire full-back finished off the first Gloucester try to make up for his drop moments earlier, Made 83 metres.

James Hanson 6.9

Inadvertently involved in winning try as he collided with Tom O’Flaherty but replays suggested it wasn’t deliberate obstruction.

Mark Atkinson 6.8

Punched a few holes through the middle.

Lewis Ludlow 6.8

Made five tackles in his short time on the pitch as Gloucester held on at the end.
