The Gloucestershire filmmaker whose life was transformed after his short Christmas video went viral last year has released this year’s festive offering.

Phil Beastall, who used to live in Tewkesbury but now lives near Bourton-on-the-Water, made hearts melt 12 months ago with a video originally shot in one day on a £50 budget in 2014.

He posted Love is a Gift on Facebook again on a whim and watched in disbelief as 183,000 people shared it in the following days and it went on to be viewed by millions of people. It showed a man remembering his late mum at Christmas.

Today he has released this year’s Christmas film, a two-minute piece called Made for You.

It tells the story of a man missing his partner while they are many miles apart. They send each other text messages, talk via a video messaging facility and say that they love each other.

Just as the man thinks he will not see his partner at Christmas, he turns up unexpectedly and there is a suggestion of a marriage proposal before they embrace.

Phil put the video out on his Twitter account, saying: “Christmas is a time for happiness, love and belonging. I’m excited to share this year's Christmas film.

“From all of us at Anzara...Merry Christmas! x”

Anzara Media Ltd, based in Cheltenham, is where Phil is creative director.

He said: “I’m really pleased with the film and also the reaction to it.

“It went from concept to completion in around 10 days. The shoot took one day.”
