Sarah Dugdale's hopes for the Masterchef crown may have been dashed last week - but she's showing no signs of slowing down.

After making it to the quarter-finals a few weeks ago, Sarah was hoping to sail on to be a semi-finalist.

But last week saw the judges eliminate her from the competition after her take on lemon meringue cake failed to impress.

She told Gloucestershire Live: "Of course I'm disappointed not to be going through to the final.

"You never expect to get chosen out of the thousands of people who apply.

"But once you do, you start to think you have a chance at winning."

After her impressive run as a contestant on this year's series of Masterchef, she's setting her sights on the future.

Having received a stream of support from the local community in and around Gloucestershire, she's set to host a series of pop-ups to showcase her skills in venues across the county.

Starting at The Hive in Stow on the Wold, a pop-up restaurant will take place on April 13 with a menu curated by Sarah herself.

The menu will include a stuffed bell pepper, a rack of lamb and a mushroom soufflé.

"The show has been an incredible boost.

"Having Grace Dent like my cooking is massive."

Sarah's family have supported her throughout her time on the show, as she says her partner has "always supported me through everything."

But she has now had to get used to a different life with fervid fans of hers approaching her in the street - and most recently at the Cheltenham Races.

She says: "So far the reaction has been so positive.

"I'm being recognised in the local shop - but now I can't get caught buying ready meals!"

Sarah's time on the show saw her curate cuisine inspired by her own mother, who made home-cooked meals for a family of twelve.

"My entire ethos is cooking from scratch as my mother did - if we went back to basics with ingredients, we would be far healthier and save a lot of money.

"I know these days people are busy and may not have the time, but I believe using simple, high-quality ingredients to cook with is key."

Though she didn't take home the Masterchef crown, she has not been deterred.

That plan includes a cookbook with all her favourite recipes - which she has just started writing.

She says: "It's not going to stop me from doing things.

"I'm a planner and I plan to focus on cooking much more in my future."
