Gloucestershire is home to around 100 fish and chip shops, which makes it hard to choose one when you get the craving, but here are some of the favourites as shown by star ratings.

Ye Olde Restaurant & Fish Shoppe (Gloucester)

This is a great chippy in a historical building near the Gloucester Cathedral, with a take-out option to enjoy whilst sitting near the Cathedral or seating inside on two floors.

Extremely friendly staff make this a local favourite place to visit.

A modern chippy which uses recyclable boxes, adds nut oil to their batter mix which is dry fried, and has milkshakes or ice creams available which isn’t found in many chip shops.

They have decent, hearty sized portions so make sure you’re hungry before ordering so nothing goes to waste!

This traditional chippy is located near the Museum of Gloucester and the historic dockyard, and has a wholesome interior design making you feel very comfortable.

The fresh fishcakes are fantastic and worth a try if you choose to visit.

Run by a husband and wife team, this chippy only opened in 2009 but fish and chips business has been running in the family since 1976.

They focus on ethically sourced produced and don’t anything artificial such as MSG or other bulking agents, so you know what you’re eating is real food.

Along with their superb fish and chips, you can also try some speciality sweet items such as a battered crème egg!

They won the title ‘UK’s Number 1 Fish & Chip Takeaway’ in 2016.

Seymour Fryer (Gloucester)

Wide menu selection which includes gluten free fish and chips anytime of the day any day of the week, and you can even take in some of your own gluten free foods for them to fry with the rest of your order.

Voted the best chip shop in Gloucester by our readers last year.

Located outside of Abbeymead, this is a well-liked chippy for residents in the outskirts of Gloucester.

Most menu items are being sold at a competitive rate, so you won’t have to break the bank or have the classic ‘but I have food in the freezer’ argument with yourself the next time you’re craving takeaway.

Convenient chippy for locals and boasts a flavoursome Chinese curry sauce to drizzle over your chips or some BBQ ribs!
