Gloucester loves the Victorian Christmas Market at The Quays.

But Gloucester doesn’t love the struggle to park at The Quays car park which struggles to cope with all that extra traffic heading into the city.

Visitors, and even some locals, may be unaware of a cheeky car park that is not far away and also pretty cheap at £2 all day: The Castle Meads car park.

It’s only open to the public at weekends and it could take the pressure off other city car parks if people use it.

It’s just off Castle Meads Way as you are coming into Gloucester from the north and signs are in place directing motorists in.

And don’t think it’s going to be a bit of a hike to the actual market as it should only take around five minutes.

It is only open Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 7pm, as well as on bank holidays.

During the week, it is used for Gloucestershire College which is nearby.

The Quays car park has been opening and closing since the market began on Thursday because of the number of extra visitors coming into the city.

On Saturday, The Quays was teeming with people making the most of the festive stalls and enjoying a go on the ice rink which has opened as well.
