AmaZulu FC have unveiled the signings of former Orlando Pirates players Marc Van Heerden and Charlie Hlalele as well as Thembela Sikhakhane on loan.
The three players were part of the seven new signings which were unveiled by Usuthu on Friday as the Durban-based side reinforced their squad ahead of the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.
Ex-Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs, and midfielder Nhlanhla Vilakazi from Free State Stars, Argentine forward Emiliano Tade (from Auckland City in New Zealand), Xolani Silawuli (centre-back from NFD side Uthongathi FC), Boiki Modisakeng (right full-back from Platinum Stars) were also unveiled by the club.
AmaZulu's media officer Brilliant Mkhathini stated that they are satisfied with the new signings and that the KwaZulu-Natal giants are unlikely to bring in more players.
“As far as new players are concerned, this is it, no one else is coming. For now we will unveil those seven players only. The team started training camp this week and are expected to come back on Tuesday," Mkhathini told the media.
The club has managed to secure another season-long loan deal for Sikhakhane, who caught the eye at Usuthu last season. The 25-year-old right-back made 20 appearances in all competitions for AmaZulu on loan from the Buccaneers.
Hlalele, who is an attacking midfielder and Van Heerden were both released by Bucs prior to their move and they are now looking to relaunch their careers at Usuthu, who are under the guidance of South African coach Cavin Johnson.
Meanwhile, Pirates have welcomed Caio Marcelo for an assessment and the Brazilian defender is part of the Bucs squad that is currently camping in Ndola, Zambia.
The 20-year-old (second from left - standing) featured for the Buccaneers as they played to a 0-0 stalemate with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) giants TP Mazembe at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Thursday.
Marcelo was on the books of Campeonato Brasileiro Série A outfit CR Vasco Da Gama last season - on loan from lower division club Nova Iguaçu FC.
He is a left-footed player, who stands at 1.91m having been nurtured in the Botafogo and Cruzeiro academies in his home country.
It remains to be seen whether Marcelo will be able to impress Bucs head coach Milutin Sredojevic and earn himself a deal with the Soweto giants.
