Bell, Perry Announce Hurricane Relief Funds For Wayne County

Rep. John Bell and Sen. Jim Perry have announced that Golden LEAF Board of Directors voted to award state funds for hurricane recovery projects in Wayne County.

This includes over $8,000 to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Goldsboro for building repair and replacement carpet following damage as a result of Hurricane Florence. Insurance proceeds were not sufficient to complete the repairs.

In addition, over $1 million will go to the five Wayne County Sanitary Districts for installation of permanent backup generators at critical water assets.

“We are pleased to announce new state funding from Golden LEAF for hurricane relief projects in Wayne County,” said Rep. Bell and Sen. Perry. “These are much needed resources that will help our community continue to rebuild and mitigate future disasters.”

The projects are funded by the NC General Assembly through the Golden LEAF Foundation.
