TENNIS ROUNDUP: Lake View snags team title in Fort Stockton

Lake View High School won the team title this past weekend at the Fort Stockton Invitational.

Francisco Mendoza won the Flight 1 boys singles title and Erick Torres took the Flight 2 boys singles title. They teamed up to finish third in Flight 1 boys doubles.

Lake View's Eric Perez was the Flight 3 boys singles champion and teammate Zabastian Casillas took the Flight 5 boys singles crown.

On the girls' side, Alaysia Capuchina finished first in Flight 2 singles and Hailey Torrez was third in Flight 3  singles.

Victoria Hernandez finished first in Flight 4 girls singles, Veronica Morales was third in Flight 5 girls singles, and Alyssa Lechuga was third in Flight 6 girls singles.

Rounding out the results for Lake View were: Casillas/Perez (third, Flight 2 boys doubles); Chris Moreno/Jaxon Johnson (first, Fight 3 boys doubles); Emily Hahn/Capuchina (first, Flight 1 girls doubles);  Morales/Madison Goetz (third, Flight 3 girls doubles); and Pablo Flores/Hailey Torrez (third, Flight 1 mixed doubles).

Lake View shines at Brandon Clark tourney

The frigid 34-degree weather on Friday didn't keep the Lake View High School tennis team from putting up some impressive results on its home courts at the Brandon Clark Memorial Tournament.

The Chiefs' Francisco Mendoza finished second in Division A boys singles, and Emily Hahn was third for the Maidens in girls singles.

Lake View's Zebastian Casillas and Eric Perez placed third in Division A boys doubles, and the girls doubles team of Veronica Morales and Madison Goetz was also third.

Rounding out the results in Division A, Lake View's mixed doubles duo of Kay Hayes and Pablo Flores finished second.                         

In Division B, Lake View's Alaysia Capuchina was the girls singles champion, and Shaye Price and Victoria Hernandez won the girls doubles title.
