North Dakota trooper performs CPR on driver who suffered medical emergency near Grand Forks

The man was transported to Altru Health System for further evaluation.

A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper on Wednesday gave emergency aid to a man who was suffering a medical emergency near Grand Forks.

While on his regular patrol around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, North Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Rumple observed wheel tracks going off the road on Interstate 29 South near Grand Forks, according to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The tracks led to a white Ford 250, where Rumple discovered Erick Magnusen, 51, of East Bethel, Minn., slouched over in his vehicle. Rumple broke the window and began CPR immediately. Members of the Grand Forks Sheriff's Office and Thompson Fire Department arrived on the scene to assist.

Magnusen was was taken to Altru Health System by ambulance, where he died.
