JAMESTOWN, N.D. — A Jamestown man is in custody after allegedly firing at least one rifle shot at a passing train Friday evening, according to Chad Kaiser, Stutsman County sheriff.
Art Krein, 73, was taken into custody at his home along the railroad tracks north of Cavendish Farms in rural Stutsman County. He is being held in the Stutsman County Correctional Center on suspicion of terrorizing and reckless endangerment.
Kaiser said personnel on a BNSF train reported a gunshot at about 10 p.m. Officers interviewed Krein, who said he had fired a shot into the air at that time. BNSF officials later provided the Stutsman County Sheriff's Office with a photograph appearing to be a bullet strike on the door of a locomotive.
"There is a history of him calling and complaining about the whistles of the train," Kaiser said.
No one was injured in the incident and formal charges are pending against Krein.
