WINDSOR — The Windsor Chamber of Commerce has named a new executive director.

Michelle Vance will make the short hop from economic-development director for the town of Wellington to the chamber role in Windsor.

Vance will assume the executive director role from Scott Soldat-Valenzuela, who served a year at the helm of the chamber. Prior to Soldat-Valenzuela, the Windsor chamber was led by Michal Connors, 54, who died unexpectedly after serving the chamber for about 20 years.

Vance will begin work June 1, about a year from the day that she took over as economic-development director in Wellington.

“This was the right decision for me,” Vance told BizWest “I’m proud of the work I’ve done in Wellington. The town has marketing materials for the first time,” she said.  “Wellington has tons of potential.”

She likes the business climate in Windsor. “The Windsor [town] board and staff are pro business,” she said, and it will be her job to continue to promote pro-business policy from the town.

“My goal is to have an amazing relationship with the businesses. They will be facing an economic tsunami [because of COVID-19]. Being an advocate for business owners will be my number one priority. Restaurants will need major advocacy,” she said.

Vance already has relationships in the community and region because of her Wellington role. She serves on the Larimer County Workforce Development Board and is also a part of the Northern Colorado Regional Economic Development Initiative and the Larimer County Business Retention & Expansion Partnership.
