Thomas Dunn June 24, 1931~Oct. 6, 2019 Thomas R. Dunn, 88, of Greeley, died after a life well lived on Oct. 6, 2019, at his home.

Thomas was born June 24, 1931, in Findlay, Ohio, to Reed Bergman and Minerva Irene ((Platte) Dunn.

He met his bride of almost 63 years, Janis, in Cheyenne, Wyo. They married Dec. 30, 1956.

Thomas attended Bowling Green University, where he became a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He then transferred to his beloved Ohio State University, graduating from the College of Pharmacy in 1954.

Following graduation, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. His last assignment was at Frances E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo. Thomas returned to Ohio State, enrolling in the School of Medicine and graduating in 1961. He was then commissioned in the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, Calif., where he completed his medical internship.

Upon completion, he returned to Ohio to finalize his residency in Pediatrics at the Columbus Children’s Hospital. He joined the Greeley Medical Clinic in 1965 and retired from pediatrics in 1995. Following retirement, he began his career at the Colorado Medical Foundation, becoming the director.

Thomas participated in several missions, including ones to Belize, Costa Rica and Guatemala. He was dedicated to the Centennial Rotary group, and served that organization as its president. He was particularly committed to improving the facilities at the Poudre Learning Center in Greeley. He was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and served as a guardian on an Honor Flight of Northern Colorado.

Thomas enjoyed traveling, especially to Hilton Head Island and Europe. He encouraged his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to also embrace that passion. His interest included woodworking, reading, especially about history and astrology, growing tomatoes and roses, and listening to classical music.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Janis; children Christine (Chris) Sallee, John (Lynn) Dunn, Bill (Angie) Dunn and Katherine (Matt) Rollmann; grandchildren, Jared (Carly), Adrienne (Tim), Travis, Karlyn, Garrett, Tayler, Katey and Tatym; step grandchildren, Troy, Trent (Hannah), Emily, Daniel and Kaci; great-grandchildren, Levi, Luke, Asher and Rowan; step-great-grandchildren, Mason, and Harper; sister-in-law, Lou Dunn; several nieces and nephews; as well as many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James and Richard Dunn; and sister-in-law, Shirley.

A life tribute and celebration will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Inurnment will be held at 2 p.m., at Linn Grove Cemetery, 1700 cedar Ave., after the reception.
