Alan Eldridge, Jack Owens Named to Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team

The former Boiler was one of the state’s best 25 years ago.

I know I am getting old when I am starting to see player who were in high school when I was in high school get named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Teams. Since I have a ballot for the Indiana All-Star Teams each season I get their press releases, and today the Silver Anniversary Team from the 1994-95 season was released. This year’s team had a couple of Purdue ties:

ALAN ELDRIDGE FORT WAYNE WAYNE

1995 Indiana All-Star, AP high honorable mention all-state, Bloomington H-T 1st team all-state and 1995 Fort Wayne News Sentinel Player of the Year after averaging 20.7 ppg as a senior… IBCA 1st team underclass all-state as a junior after averaging 15.6 points for 20-6 sectional championship squad… 955 points and 348 assists in 60 career games in three seasons… played in 131 games in four seasons at Purdue University, with career totals of 664 points, 280 rebounds and 311 assists… averaged 7 ppg over junior and senior seasons for Purdue teams that made 1998 and 1999 NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and was freshman on Purdue’s 1995-96 Big Ten champions… earned MBA and has been employed in business and retail, currently Director of Distribution for TBC and owner of 19twenty, leadership and development coach… he resides in West Palm Beach, Florida.

JACK OWENS INDIANAPOLIS WASHINGTON

1995 Indiana All-Star, AP high-honorable mention all-state, Indianapolis News 2nd team all-state, Bloomington H-T 1st team all-state and IBCA all-state after averaging 16.7 points and 7 assists per game as a senior for the Continentals’ 24-2 sectional championship team… averaged 14.7 points as junior, 14.4 points as sophomore and 11.1 points as freshman at Washington for teams that won two Indianapolis City championships and two IPS conference titles… played freshman college season at Murray State, sophomore at Howard Junior College, then excelled at Eastern Illinois, totaling 653 points in two seasons, averaging 5.0 assists, earning 1999 Team MVP, Defensive Player of the Year awards and leading the Ohio Valley Conference in assists (5.4 per game)… he has made a career in coaching, as an assistant at Howard CC, Barton CC, Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois and Purdue, and since 2017 has been the head coach at Miami (OH) University… he resides in Oxford, Ohio.
