THE sharp rise in fly-tipping across the Winchester district appears to be easing.
A council report said the number of incidents were down from a peak of 249 in the last quarter of 2017/18 year.
The average for each quarter in 2017/18 was 196 incidents. So far this financial year it is 188.
Hot spot locations were Port Lane, Hursley down from five to two in the fourth quarter of 2017/18 and second quarter of 2018/19; Beeches Hill, Bishop's Waltham, four to one; Basingstoke Road, the A33 north of Kings Worthy, 17 to five; and Whiteley Lane, Whiteley, seven to one.
But Cllr Therese Evans told the overview and scrutiny committee said she was surprised that Boarhunt was not in the list of hotspots. "There is always lots of stuff by the road there."
