WINCHESTER civic chiefs are reviewing the loss-making catering operations at the Guildhall.
The 1871 cafe and internal catering are expected to lose £150,000 this year, according to a city council report to the overview and scrutiny committee.
The council has long had the ambition to make the Guildhall pay its way.
A spokeswoman said yesterday: “The Guildhall is a multi-use space that is used by a variety of groups for many different activities and being a historic building, is costly to run and maintain.
"To ensure the Council is making best use of this civic and community asset, we are exploring options as to how the café could be managed in the future, with the objective of making the service cost neutral”.
