WINCHESTER Cathedral Girl Choristers past and present will join forces on Sunday for a special Evensong to mark their 20th anniversary.

The amassed choir will include at least 50 girls, both new and old, including several members from the original choir and 18 current Girl Choristers.

The girls will be singing together in the Cathedral Quire on June 2 for what promises to be a poignant and celebratory service.

Sophie Burford, one of the original girl choristers, said: “It’s rare for a girl to have such a life changing experience at such a young age. The choir changed my life both in the present and for the future. We shared laughter and tears together and I feel this helped shape us into the women we are.”

Evensong to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of Winchester Cathedral Girls’ Choir starts at 3.30pm on Sunday June 2 and all are welcome to attend.
